The Brazilian people are being targeted by a death policy.
While most of the world adopts protection measures for their populations, promoting vaccinations, imposing social distancing, providing minimum financial support and running campaigns to reinforce the importance of wearing masks and using hand sanitizer, the President of Brazil does the exact opposite. He incentivizes agglomerations, interferes with the purchase and distribution of vaccines, questions the use of face masks as a measure to prevent contamination, incentivizes the use of medication not recommended by robust studies already published in the scientific community. He continues to promote a climate of persecution and embarrassment for Brazilian researchers and institutions that pursue, above all else, the scientific knowledge necessary to confront the serious problems of this pandemic.Institutionally, the Federal Government still interferes with the governors and mayors attempting to take any protective measures against the dissemination of the virus, while aware that the health system in Brazil has begun to collapse.
The actions and omissions from the Federal Government and the Brazilian Parliament – who still delay action on over sixty impeachment petitions and have not legislated in establishing measures to protect lives - has directly resulted in the death of nearly 3,000 Brazilians per day.
It is estimated that by July 2021 Brazil will have reached 500,000 deaths. This staggering number does not come as a natural result of the pandemic, but from the policies that contradict the science and exposes the population to death.
Right now, and for the first time in its entire existence, the Universal Health System (“Sistema Único de Saúde” - SUS), that serves all Brazilians is near the point of total collapse nationwide. Hospital managers, both public and private, report daily that oxygen supplies for all admitted patients is not sufficient and that in approximately 15 days there will be none of the medication necessary to proceed with intubations. Bodies of the deceased are piled up and people wait in lengthy queues to have the covid-19 deaths confirmed.
Chaos reigns.
In a continental country such as Brazil, home to the principle rainforest responsible for the endurance of human life on Earth, this signals a human and environmental catastrophe of global proportions. There are already studies that demonstrate the impact on the water table due to mass scale burials as we face this terrifying mortality. The flow of people from other countries, before the more aggressive mutations presented by the SARS-CoV 2, could present a repeat of the reality in Brazil extending to other places in the world.The mode of governance deliberately adopted in our country could compromise concretely the continuation of human life on Earth.
Countless accusations have been made internally, but they come up against the political support system organized by the fiscalization institutions and Legislative Power, which has motivated the AJD (Association of Judges for democracy) and various other entities of civil society to take measures before the various bodies of international protection of Human Rights.
Numerous petitions have been filed by the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights, the United Nations Human Rights Council and the International Criminal Court, without yet being given any proper continuation to the investigative procedures or taken any measures to the effective protection of life to the people in our country.In the face of this catastrophic scenario, exasperated and outraged by the inertia of our institutions, within the limits of our power before the institutional violence represented by this administration of death, the organizations and entities have signed below in a GENUINE PLEA FOR HELP implore that all international regulation instances of Human Rights manifest themselves immediately in relation to the request already formulated, with the intent to force the administration to take measures that will protect the life of all Brazilian citizens, by the Federal Government and Brazilian Parliament.
